Jill is now legendary in the Jivamukti family for building one of the largest communities of Jivamukti students in the world, based in Washington D.C. Through tireless dedication to our teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life,
D.C. grew from one teacher, one class and one studio in 2005 to now 14 teachers offering 17 weekly classes at seven studios. In 2008, she organized and hosted the largest ever studio workshop event with Sharon and David, with nearly 1,000 mats down over 2 days. Recognized by Yoga Journal as one of 5 Yogis “Changing the World,” her knowledge and experience reflect more than 13 years of training and teaching basic Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Jivamukti Yoga. Program description:
4:30pm-5:30pm - Community Panel Discussion. "So you want to grow a thriving Jivamukti Yoga community?" A satsangha, literally, a community connected (angha) by Truth (sat) is best cultivated through the practice of Jivamukti Yoga's Five Tenets: Scripture, Ahimsa, Meditation, Nada Yoga and Bhakti. It's not enough to practice Tenet in isolation, or just personally. It's when we come together and institute the Tenets as a community that their true transformative power is revealed. Please join Patrick Broome,Cat Alip-Douglas, Antje (Amba), anja.kuehnel Anna Ferguson, Jeffrey Cohen, Giselle Mari, Ganesh Das, Jill Abelson, and Liz Roberts for a panel discussion and Q&A focused on actual "what works" case studies from existing Jivamukti Yoga communities!
