Bio - Lisa Angerame

Lisa Dawn Goldstein took her first yoga class at a local gym over ten years ago.  She knew nothing about this mysterious thing called yoga.  But after finding herself crying after class, she was compelled to discover what could bring her to tears in such a powerful and emotional way.  So, Lisa, being the inquisitive and curious person that she is, hopped on a plane to spend a month in India.  Traveling around and absorbing the sights, smells, and sounds of that amazing country, Lisa ended up at an ayurvedic center in the south.  There she practiced yoga daily and began a journey of discovery that is still ongoing.

While working in Boston, Lisa found an inspirational teacher in Baron Baptiste who provided a platform through which she transformed her life.  Yoga became a source of strength and healing from the inside out.  As she became more flexible in her body, Lisa also became more flexible in her mind. Lisa likes to say, "I was never a gymnast or a dancer.  I had no idea what my body could do.  But it is bigger than that now.  I can't believe how the physical changes have manifested themselves emotionally and spiritually.  I have found balance, equanimity, and contentment."

As Lisa continued on the path, she studied with some of the most amazing teachers on the planet, including Jonny Kest and Paul Grilley.  But it was during the certification process to become a Baptiste Power Vinyasa teacher, that Lisa was blessed to discover Jivamukti Yoga.

Since taking her first workshop with Sharon Gannon and David Life, Lisa has never looked back.  She would like to acknowledge the incredible work that Sharonji and Davidji have done to create the Jivamukti Yoga method and the intensity with which they spread their teachings.  Inspired by Davidji's suggestion that the esoteric teachings of yoga are being lost in the modern yoga craze, Lisa founded The Mandala Yoga Project in an effort to bring the yoga community together.  Visit Lisa's websites at www.projectyoga.com and www.themandalayogaproject.com.

Lisa graduated from the 2008 Jivamukti teacher training course with an incredible satsang of beautiful teachers.  Lisa is grateful for the support of the entire Jivamukti community especially Yogeswari for showing her the door, Rima, Jules, Amy, Kelly, Cassandra and Jill Abelson for their encouragement, Lady Ruth for her teachings, Kumiko and Ganeshdas for making it fun, Gabriela for being a special snowflake, Jeffrey for being a great mentor, Jenna for being her sister, Paul for his grace, and Maria for her sweet and spontaneous spirit.  Lisa completed her apprenticeship with Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher Maria Preuster and is  800-hour certified.
