WEEKLY THURSDAY NIGHT MEDITATION
with Ganeshdas
Every Thursday evening from 8pm-9:30pm Ganesh Das leads a free donation-based therapeutic meditation practice at the Jivamukti Yoga School. This healing Satsang is designed and blessed by his gurus and founders of the Jivamukti Yoga method, Sharon Gannon and David Life. Through this guided practice open to all levels, one learns to find a comfortable meditative seat, be still and focus the attention on the breath and a mantra. One learns to create space and calmness in the mind and body, amidst the daily chaos of life. This class provides a safe environment for the community to gather and openly discuss spiritual and every day aspects of life through a candid Q & A.

"A regular meditation practice creates a space for steadiness and quiet in daily life.  Ganesh Das' class is welcoming, educational, and deeply restorative."

--Gina Stec, Jivamukti Yoga Teacher.

Every 1st Wednesday of the Month
Devadas has released two cds,
"Ocean - Songs for Amma" (available on itunes)
and "Shine Shine On" and is currently recording
& singing anywhere & everywhere they'll have him :)
A Bhajan is any type of Indian devotional song. It has no fixed form: it may be as simple as a mantra or kirtan or as sophisticated as the dhrupad or kriti with music based on classical ragas and talas. It is normally lyrical, expressing love for the Divine. The name, a cognate of bhakti, meaning religious devotion, suggests its importance to the bhakti movement.

INTRODUCTION TO KOREAN ZEN
with Ken Kessel, JDPSN
Zen employs several simple techniques of formal practice and meditation that help direct the student towards a central question: What am I? If there is an element of faith in Zen, it is faith that steadfast concentration on the question of self-nature will bring clarity and energy to everyday life as well as a faith that, ultimately, Zen practice will not focus on an isolated  I but on the whole real world, that self and the world are not separate.

Zen students approach the study of the - What am I? question through formal practice forms developed over many centuries. The Introduction to Korean Zen program will include instruction in some of these practice forms like  sitting meditation, walking meditation and chanting--and Ken Kessel will give a dharma talk and answer questions.

Ken Kessel received inka in April, 1996 from Zen Master Seung Sahn, who certified Ken as a Ji Do Poep Sa Nim (a dharma master). Ken has studied with Zen Master Seung Sahn since 1975. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been practicing as a psychotherapist since 1983, working with children and families in foster care, substance abuse, outpatient and inpatient mental health and therapeutic preschool settings, as well as in private practice. He specializes in infant and early childhood mental health and is an accomplished poet.

RESTORING THROUGH BEING
A restorative workshop with Jivamukti Yoga Teachers, Jeff Brown & Tamar Samir
The practices of yoga were created to uplift, fine tune, and restore the practitioner to their natural state, which is described in the yogic texts as Sat-cit-ananda: truth, consciousness, and bliss.  All of our constant doing can lead to stress in life and we forget to connect and identify with our highest, most authentic Self. This workshop will include long held restorative poses, pranayama (breathing practices), and meditation, in a sequence designed to lead to a state of deep relaxation, facilitating healing and wholeness in body and mind.

The more often we practice residing in our true nature, that blissful state, the longer we can dwell there and access that authentic Self whenever we get carried away or reactive. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a handout with a series of 6 simple practices that you can do at home or at the office.

Jeff Brown & Tamar Samir, both teachers who are passionate about the benefits of restorative yoga, are excited to collaborate again and share their experience in this Jivamukti Yoga workshop.

MAIN STREET VEGAN: HEALTHY EATING AND COMPASSIONATE LIVING AS THE NEW NORMAL
(Talk and book signing at the cafe)
Everybody knows that vegans are cool and plant-based dining is hot, but taking the leap can be challenging. What do I tell my mom? How do you tell my doctor? Will I be hungry? Will I waste away? Get too many carbs? Ever date again? Will I seem weird? Can I travel? Get pregnant? Wear nice shoes?

Whether you?re considering the vegan life, or you?re vegan already and wish everybody were, this funny, inspiring, and content-packed presentation will answer your questions and cheer you on. It?s time for veganism to be as mainstream as front-wheel-drive or contact lenses! This presentation will help you go veg, stay veg, and inspire others to feel compassion, live vibrantly, leave worries about weight and aging and illness back at McDonald?s. It will also help you know without a doubt that you?re a vital part of ushering in a ?new normal? of respect for all beings that you can share with family, friends, and coworkers simply by the way you live your life and shine your light.
